Sleep, Menopause,

and the Nervous System

Sleep becomes an invaluable resource in midlife, often disrupted by the hormonal changes that accompany (peri)menopause and (post)menopause.

In this talk, ChantalI will delve into the ways these hormonal shifts impact sleep, why women are more prone to sleep challenges during this time, and how stress exacerbates these disruptions. We'll explore the importance of transitioning from the "fight or flight" state to the restorative "rest and digest" mode to improve sleep quality and overall well-being.

You’ll gain insights into the critical role sleep plays in our physical and mental health and how the nervous system influences its quality. Together, we’ll uncover practical steps to improve sleep hygiene, develop habits that support restful sleep, and engage mindfulness practices to cultivate truly regenerative rest.

Session will include presentation, experiential participation from the audience and time for Q&A.

Love & Longevity: The Healing Power of Oxytocin

Love is not ‘just’ an emotion, it has a fundamentally biological and physiological side. One element that repeatedly features in the biochemistry of love is the neuropeptide oxytocin. What happens behind the scenes when we experience love and fear and how does this affect our social relationships and perceptions of safety?

In this presentation, Dr. Sue Carter and Chantal Traub will give us an insight into the nature of love from a biochemical perspective. We will learn about the ‘oxytocin’ hypothesis and how the ‘love’ hormone can positively influence not just our relationships but also our health. Sue and Chantal will address the ways we view oxytocin in popular media and get at the heart of how it’s not always about adding more and more oxytocin, but fine tuning receptors to navigate the world better.

Session will include presentation, discussion and time for Q&A.

Boundaries, Burnout,

and Relationships

Many of us have grown accustomed to being constantly available to others, often at the expense of our own needs and limits. Over time, this can take a significant toll on both emotional and physical health. While setting boundaries may initially feel uncomfortable, it’s a critical step toward building healthy, sustainable relationships. In this talk, Chantal Traub will explore the reasons we tend to overextend ourselves and how our nervous system reacts to stress and overcommitment.

You’ll learn how setting clear limits can protect your emotional and physical space, allowing you to engage with others without compromising your well-being or values. Boundaries are a vital act of self-care. By recognizing and respecting your limits, you can prevent emotional burnout, foster meaningful connections, and maintain the mental and emotional resilience needed to thrive.

Session will include presentation, experiential participation from the audience and time for Q&A.
