PVI Community Member Guidelines

Polyvagal Theory and its key tenets of safety, connection, and co-regulation are at the core of this space.

This means:

Be Supportive

  • Criticism, cynicism, advice, or judgment may feel like a threat to others. Instead, support each other and be respectful to help everyone feel safe.

Be Courteous

  • Assume the best intentions, respect differing opinions, and avoid hate speech. Our community members hail from around the world and range from researchers to mental health experts, neuroscience professionals to individuals with minimal background knowledge who are eager to learn more to support their own healing and wellness. All are welcome, and all are valued.

Share Generously

  • Your stories and experiences may be what someone else needs to hear to solve a problem or seize an opportunity. Your contributions help make this a vibrant community.

Be Constructive

  • We’re here to help one another grow. Encourage curiosity, constructive feedback, and mutual support. If you disagree with something, pause and consider how to respond in a way that is productive, educational, respectful, and kind.

Promote Safety and Co-regulation

  • Seek ways to create and recognize cues of safety and co-regulation. Let’s stay curious and reframe challenges positively.
